Class II msc (Microscope Interface): It is sometimes a requirement in the modern laboratory to use a microscope in a class II msc, be it for routine analysis of TSE's , tissue sampling or the intricate manipulations encountered with IVF procedures (where a heated worksurface may also be desirable).

When using a microscope in an open fronted msc one needs to consider how the cabinet is to be used and the size and type of microscope required with the distance between the sampling base and the eyepieces being of fundamental importance in ensuring safe and comfortable use.

It may be beneficial (and sometimes essential) in having the microscope set to one side of the cabinet (especially in larger width units) as this allow part of the cabinet to be used without obstruction or performance being compromised by the microscope.

Having considerable personal experience of interfacing microscopes and the problems one can encounter and avoid if it's done right, Safety Cabinet Solutions Ltd could be an extremely useful source of information as mistakes will be both costly and if the cabinet's performance is compromised (most designs are - you have been warned) and thus possibly dangerous for the user and others in the local environment.
