Class II msc (Microscope Interface): It is sometimes a requirement in the modern laboratory to use a microscope in a class II msc, be it for routine analysis of TSE's , tissue sampling or the manipulations involved with IVF procedures (where a heated worksurface may also be desirable).

When using a microscope in a class II msc one needs to consider how the cabinet is to be used and the size and type of microscope required with the distance between the sampling base and the eyepieces being of fundamental importance in ensuring safe, comfortable use.

It may be beneficial (and sometimes essential) in having the microscope set to one side of he cabinet (especially in larger width units) as this will afford part of the cabinet's performance not being compromised by the microscope and eyepieces.
