VLF - Vertical Laminar Flow cabinets (laf) differ from the HLF above as the air, as the name implies cascades vertically from the hepa filter above the work surface.

HLF - horizontal laminar flow cabinets (laf) provide a clean, hepa filtered unidirectional (laminar) air stream over the working surface.

These are used where the sample material needs to be kept free from contamination from the surrounding laboratory/facilities environment in many industries from heavy engineering to the manufacture and electronic components.

Available in a range of widths up to around 1800mm though they are designed to be butted together when larger areas are required for a particular process.
